Welcome
Thank you for visiting Swing Soulstice, Atlanta's largest weekly swing dance venue! We play music that's great for Atlanta Lindy Hop, Charleston, East Coast Swing, and Soul. Want to know more? Check out our Schedule & Pricing and Lessons pages for the latest on what we offer!
This week is the start of September's class series covering 8-count Swing.
Robert and Rachel will introduce you to Lindy Hop and more. Lindy Hop
is the original Swing dance that started in the ballrooms of Harlem
during the 1930s.
Wonder where the journey leads that you might start this week? Check
out the videos below for a taste of where you could end up.
The Fall 2009 semester is here and that means KSU swing dancing is back! Their dance calendar begins with a joint event with Swing Soulstice near Cumberland mall. All students - both KSU and others - are welcome for this week's Student Night! RSVP on Facebook
All students receive a discounted price of $5 for the event. That includes an introductory dance lesson before the dance and two and a half hours of dancing.
Ladies and Leads are arriving from all over the country this week for Southern Belle Swing Bash, a workshop weekend devoted to women's roles in Lindy Hop and all forms of jazz dance.
Many Southern Belle attendees will be arriving early for the Pre-Party at Swing Soulstice.
Come give them a warm Atlanta welcome and dance with some awesome and dedicated dancers from all over!
This is not to be missed.
Greetings Atlanta Bargain Hunter readers! Welcome to the dance floor.
Come dance tonight at 9:30 (no partner needed) or come early for the 8:30 class. This week's class focuses on Jazz Steps and a Swing line dance called the Shim Sham. The class series started last week, but it's not to late to join in.
The class focuses on solo dancing, but classes for partnered Swing resume on August 27.
Don't miss the Atlanta Dance Events listing at the ASEDA site for all Atlanta Swing events.
Robert and Rachel will take you back in time to a day when legends like Frankie Manning and other Savoy dancers' improvisation, and sometimes even mistakes, created dance steps that have continued to wow audiences since the 1930s. You'll have a blast learning easy-to-master jazz moves, a Lindy line dance, and personal musicality.
Excellent news for all you Thursday night dancers - ASEDA (www.aseda.org) has agreed to take over the operation of Swing Soulstice! This Thursday, July 30th, will officially be their first night running the event. The schedule and pricing will remain the same, and they have many exciting ideas to keep the venue running smoothly. This week will be Jeff and Liz's final open practice session before moving to Minnesota. Have last minute dance questions? Want to pick their brain? Need to practice your moves? Come on out!
To get our new Beginner's class started with a bang we're offering the class free to all students! This is a perfect time to come learn out to Lindy Hop with no pressure. Already know how to Lindy? Then bring your friends and enjoy a free hour of class!
Update: The beginner's track will no longer be offered. The current schedule has class starting at 8:30 and dancing starting at 9:30.
Joanna Lucero will continue teaching The Big Apple this week!
(Note that the big apple is an ambitious dance. Joanna will get as far through it as she can.)
Last week we had a great time learning the Shim Sham with Joanna. This week she will be covering the Jitter Bug stroll! You can't go wrong with this dance - the song tells you what to do! Come by Swing Soulstice tomorrow night and check it out!
